Your Guide to Properly Using Packing Materials
Thursday, September 8th, 2011
For the most part, packing materials are known for two things: their ability to protect your stuff and how fun they are to play with. Beyond that, most people don’t know much about them. They’re not sure how to use each kind and what the different types of packing materials are meant for. Of course, that’s the exact reason we wrote this guide, in case you can’t tell from the title…
Saving Money on Packing Materials – First things first, even if you save big money on your packing materials, resist the temptation to play with them instead of using them. True, bubble wrap makes funny noises and can be used to design unique hats, but it’s much better suited for protecting your gear. Properly using packing materials like bubble wrap means saving it for odd-shaped items like fragile collectibles, etc.
Wholesale Moving Boxes and Supplies – Again, saving money may make you happy, but it doesn’t free you from the basic tenets of human decency, such as not packing your pets or children into boxes, no matter how convenient it may be. These boxes are the most important packing materials you’ll purchase and can be easily misused, even if no cats are involved. The largest moving boxes should be used for the lightest items, unless you want to know what a thrown out back feels like. The smaller boxes are perfect for heavy items like dishes and books. Either way, label all boxes carefully to make unpacking easier.
